After some time, the Larval Metroid will wrap itself within a cocoon, where it undergoes a transformation to a form more reminiscent of a floating arthropod, its old jelly membrane now becoming its vulnerable belly. Particularly fond of skewering potential food on its long tusks.

After some time of feasting on the surrounding wildlife, the Alpha Metroid eventually molts and grows to be a fearsome creature, now brandishing larger grasping claws, a more durable exoskeleton, and even longer tusks now coursing with electric currents.
